Shannon Staloch is a Licensed Midwife (LM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) offering holistic, heart-centered home birth care to families throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 20 years of experience, she brings calm confidence and clinical excellence to every stage of pregnancy, natural birth, and postpartum recovery. Shannon’s midwifery path has taken her from the kitchens of Oakland to birth clinics in Senegal, providing care in diverse communities and home birth settings. She earned her midwifery degree from the National Midwifery Institute and has been licensed by the California Medical Board since 2008. Board-certified in lactation since 2010, she has supported hundreds of families in their feeding journeys. A mother of three—each born at home with midwives—Shannon understands the profound transformation that birth can bring. Her care integrates traditional midwifery skills, spiritual presence, and holistic health practices, supported by training in herbal medicine, functional nutrition, and breastfeeding physiology, and studies with experts like Aviva Romm, Dr. Elisa Song, and the Weston A. Price Foundation. Payment

Home birth is often half the cost of a hospital birth—and far less when you consider the cost of interventions. Unlike hospitals, we don't bill you after the birth, adding up all the little things for a BIG bill, we have a flat fee that is agreed upon once we begin care. Payment in full is due by the time we go on call for you. We accept HSA's and FSA's.  Don’t let finances stop you from exploring your options—just ask us.

Insurance? Most PPO plans do reimburse you something for out-of-hospital birth. HMO plans, Kaiser, and Medi-Cal usually do not. Luckily, we partner with a fantastic insurance biller, Earthside Billing,  who can verify your benefits and help you file for reimbursement after the baby is, earthside.
